Create an Aladdin lamp to let the magic of Genie out on paper and have fun creating your wishes. Wishes do come true. Mine did!
Before starting this course, I highly recommend you to practice the free courses in Water Colours section as they have all the basic techniques of watercolours taught in depth. A study about colours, brush strokes, water and paint composition have been taught in depth in the free courses.
Materials Required:
A set of basic watercolours as cake colours. If the paints are in tubes, I highly recommend them to pour in tiny wells in a palette and let young children use them. That is the most easy and convenient way for young children to use watercolour paints.
Three main brushes I recommend for this age group. A medium size wound brush, a thin brush and a half inch flat brush.
Water colour paper is of utmost importance. The paper should have at least 200gsm weight. We cannot do watercolour painting on a printer paper. Paper rips as children are still trying to get comfortable with paints. Please have proper paper for watercolours.
A palette to mix paints.
Water in 2-3 cups. If water in cup gets muddy, we need to change it. Muddy water gives muddy results. You will often hear me in the videos requesting you to check the water.
A rough cloth/kitchen towel/tissue paper to wipe the brushes in between.
In extras we need thick white paint which could be acrylic or gauche, oil pastels and black sharpie pen in some artworks for added effect. Explanation is given in all videos to work without them as well.
You can choose the brands which you feel comfortable. Steadtler. Fabercastell, Pebeo, Works-Boldmere are some brands which I have worked with for students in this age group.
